Golden Retriever – Tips Before You Buy

It is important to choose the right golden retriever that suitable with your family. By doing some tips below, you can test and measure the temperament just before your buy golden retriever puppy.

This examination applied for golden retriever puppy age above six week only.

• Interest Test: This is to examine golden retriever’s responds. Put the puppy on floor, and then walk about three meters far. Squat facing the puppy, do not say word, and clap your hand once or twice.
• Stroke Test:  Touch the golden retriever puppy, stroke the puppy for about 30 seconds.
• Tote test: tote your dog with the inverted position with the above hind legs for about 20 – 30 seconds
• Follow test: Put the puppy on the follow, and then leave the puppy.

 

Category One

Golden retriever will quickly come to you directly, he lick you but not bite. In Stroke test, the puppy will jump with happy without bite and growl. Golden retriever puppy will a little bit rebel, and then wag his tail set when you tote him.

In follow test, the puppy will follow wherever you go.

Conclusion: This is the best candidate golden retriever. You can easily train him to become a family dog

Category Two

In Interest test, puppy will come to you slowly. And when you stroke, the dog wag his tail and lick your hand. Respond will be the same as category one when you conduct tote and follow test. But here, Golden retriever responds just a little bit slow.

Conclusion: you can still consider this type as your family dog. This type is much suitable for family that never had dog as their pet before

Category Three

Dog will come such hurry-scurry. In some case, found that the puppy will not come and just sit down and watch. If you do stroke test, puppy is put to the body upside down on the back and supine. In follow test, the golden retriever puppy is just sit down and watches you.

Conclusion: This type of dog bit coward and probably not too easy to socialize, require special handling and patient, it needs a long time to increase his self-confidence. Type like this may not be suitable for young children and difficult for beginners

Category Four

Dog will not respond at all, the golden retriever will seem un-happy not even wag hit tail set. Do not hope he follow you when you do follow test. If you do tote test the golden retriever will angry

Conclusion: do not choose this type. This type will easily angry when he stress.
